Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the surgical team and scrubs for surgical procedures. Demonstrates competence using acceptable standards of practice based on AORN/AST standards. Works independently as a surgical technologist displaying expert knowledge of surgical instrumentation for a variety of cases. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures. Cross-trained to the central sterile department to inspect, decontaminate, assemble, wrap, disinfect, and sterilize trays, container systems, instruments, and equipment. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgical Center.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two years, preferably in an ambulatory surgical center, with experience in supporting the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Ophthalmology, Pain, Podiatry, Urology.
- Registered as a surgical assistant or a surgical technologist in the state of Colorado, certification as a surgical technologist preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day. Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis. Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient with an understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
- Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions while effectively communicating with staff, patients and physicians

Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.

Salary Range: $26.94-38.65
Compensation: $26.94 - $38.65 per hour
